Bloggin Is A Superhero Thing...

"Blogging is a superhero thing. A nobody by day and a blogger by night."

This is the statement that made me won an ebook worth $19.95 from shanker's contest "Define blogging and win". I haven't finished reading it yet so the review has to wait for another time.

A nobody by day and a blogger by night...
I got this idea from the my favorite comics character "The batman". Who else could you think of? The keyword is "by day" and "by night". I thought of relating it to blogging since you could have a totally different persona online. You could be someone you are not and sometimes it gives you the opportunity to get the attention you deserve.

Blogging is a superhero thing...
I firmly believe that publicity fools almost everyone. News reports and other commercials are biased when you get behind the scenes. Mass media can turn an evil vicious criminal to a superhero that everyone looks up to in just one night. Okay I'm exaggerating but the point is, as a blogger, you also carry the same burden and responsibilities to be true to your words and honestly give unprejudiced information. I've noticed recently after I read newspapers or hear some news on TV and radio, there is a certain statement about the news that favors only few selected people. Read between the lines and you'll see a whole new different perspective. Someone's hiding something. I want to emphasize this since I encounter a lot of bloggers, actually a bunch of boohoos that pretend someone that they are not. They claim things that they haven't done yet, worst is that they can't most of the time. Writing is a powerful weapon in this new kind of war most commonly known as "mass media". With all the false news spreading, it urges you more to be true and spot the lies before it takes effect.

A blogger holds great responsibilities. Be honest to your readers and true to your conviction. Au revoir!

No More Blog Post - For Now

What kept me from writing?

School Accreditation
I'm sorry for not writing this past few days. School has been busier these days especially now that it is preparing for the coming of the accreditors from a known school creditor. I can't disclose it here since I might get in trouble. Maybe after the school is credited then it will be okay to post about it.

Graduation Rush
Well anyways, my graduation is almost near so I am really getting busy these past few days. I can't write any post yet but I still visit some blogs and socialize to other bloggers that I know but not that often.

So what have I been doing this past few days?

Social Media
I'm still active in some social media, facebook to be more specific. Social media tends to have tremendous effect on our country maybe because we Filipinos love to socialize with one another. It's a dominant trait and sometimes it's really bothersome especially when you want to be alone for a awhile. I post most of my blog's link to facebook and let my friends visit it.

Challenge: Compelling Titles
Actually I find it challenging to post links to Social Media and see what the results are. Some links doesn't get the attention they deserve because of lame titles. Different people have different opinions about the title you posted. Some prefer decent while some prefer the hilarious ones. It's a series of trial and error but it's worth the effort because it's really fun.

Short Url
It is common nowadays to shorten the url so readers focus their attention more on the titles. I usually leave the shortened link after the title and it doesn't bother the readers. I got the idea on twitter when it replaces the links you post on it. It is a good thing if you do have a long url like mine.

Learn More
Don't think too much. Some posts are really interesting for some and lame for others. Just post some that you find interesting. Social media is really a great source of network traffic if done right. Although I don't blog that much now, I still try to learn some new things.

Bloggers Ain't Geeks ( well some of them )
I added some famous bloggers and see what they are doing. Surprised I was when I noticed that they ain't that busy after all. They ain't that geeky when it comes to personality. Some of them really do have a good social life. They have this balance in maintaining their offline and as well as their online world.

Although I'm that busy, I will still try to update this site if I can. Anyways, I wan't most of my blogger friends to be in my friends list on facebook too so if you would be kind enough to add me, it would be my pleasure.

Kreativ Blogger Award Goes to...

What is the Kreativ Blogger Award? It is simply an award given to someone and his blog that affects your blogging activities mainly inspired you in a positive way.

I got this idea from forest and thought of doing the same thing. If they have inspired you, why not give something of value like this award. Before I tell who are the bloggers that inspired me positively, emphasizes it just to be clear, I should tell first 7 interesting things about me. It's part of the award to give out information about yourself before you give the Kreativ Blogger award. There's no harm in following the rules.

Okay, so here are some interesting information about me...

  1. I love facebook.
  2. I started blogging last July this year and created several blogs. As of now, only 2 exist since I erased the rest.
  3. I'm very talkative and love to entertain new friends.
  4. I love business opportunities offline and online.
  5. I'm a dreamer. I dream about a lot of things. The wilder the dream, the better.
  6. I'm lazy so if you see that my blog isn't updated for more than a week, you now know what I'm going through...laziness.
  7. I love chess and so I'm a deep-thinker. I'm like the guy in prison break, only he is a lot smarter than I am. LOL
Enough about me and let's go onward to the awardees.

Yuga of Yugatech.com - Inspired me when I've read about his blog on a business magazine.

Carl of CarlOcab.com - Teen blogger that made his name on the internet as the kid super blogger at the age of 13. His blog is on the first page of the SERPs for the keyword "make money online" and he's from the same country as I am, my beloved Philippines.

John of JohnChow.com - Learned what a professional blog look's like and met new blogger friends in his site.

Jeandsen of EarningStep.com - I'm on the top of his commentator's list therefore I ensure I'm always at the top. LOL

DJ of Techonology-geek.com - He comments always on my blog and so I ensure that he read something new and interesting frequently if not everyday.

AB of TechieMaxCorner - She is the first blogger to be so active on my blog. She is the only person that witnessed my addiction on changing templates before I think. Now, I stick mainly to 1 template. I love her post about technology because it bewilders my mind.

Griz of MakeMoneyforbegginers - He dominates the SERPs on some highly competitive keywords. He broke the myth that blogspot sites cannot compete with independent hosted sites. Actually the myth was just a part of marketing by web hosting companies I think.

So written above is the top 7 bloggers that inspired me on blogging positively. Actually there are more that I wanted to mention but it will spoil the value of the award. What I wrote about the following person are based on personal judgment. If you feel different about them, that's okay.

What Compels You To Write?

Most of us started blogging to earn money. At first, the concept is difficult to adapt into since the possibility of earning through the internet is still new to majority of us. Some of us would try different sort of things just to earn. These includes selling your friends out on affiliate links or any products that even you doesn't want to get your hands on to.

I was also a victim of these since at first I really don't have much of an idea of what a blogger's goal should be. I created a post before on what a blogger's first goal should be but it is just based mostly on what I have read. Melvin knocked me off to my senses and gave a whole new perspective on blogging with his submitted post on carlocab's blog entitled Your Biggest MoneyMaker? Reputation!

Reputation as money making tool
He stated that reputation would make you earn more money compared to what you earn today from making money online methods. It is the consistent brand/image building that would truly help you reach your goals. These goals would most likely compel you to write consistently:

  • be considered as an expert in your field of choice
  • numerous business opportunities within your niche
  • high personal market value (inspired by Bo Sanchez)
It requires a lot of effort to achieve these goals but it is nothing compared to what you will gain in the future. By writing consistently, you are building an image to your readers on what you know about the things within your niche.

Be Active In Social Media

What is Social Media?
It supports the human need for social interaction using internet. It is a way for bloggers to interact with one another. A common example of this is a community for bloggers. ex. mybloglog and blogcatalog

First goal: Be recognized.
This should be the first step in your online marketing career. Your posts, how informative it may be, wouldn't be noticed without readers. Readers invigorate your blog through interactions usually through blog commenting.

Things should start working on with...
  1. Blog commenting - comment on other blogs to get the blogger and commentators attention
  2. Make friends with other bloggers - join blogging communities and share some ideas. Be more personal and share a lot of your ideas. ex. twitter, facebook
  3. Join blog contests - there are a lot of blog contests around the blogosphere, you just have to look for it. Bloggers do this to invigorate their blogs and encourage more readers. ex. top commentator, raffle emails
  4. Attend meet ups - once in awhile bloggers meet on a place or on an event, attending one gains you more exposure. You might even be invited to be an author in a multi-author blog/site.
Moral Lesson (hahaha)
"Do unto others what you want them to do unto you." Comment on them and you would be commented on too. Destroy someone's reputation and they would do the same to you.

As you progress, better keep that blog running with informative posts to convert those visitors to avid readers and potential customers. It would be a waste of effort if the visitors just passed by your blog once and never did come back again at all.

I have read a lot of books lately because of the recent black outs in our place making me unable to blog which have helped me actually to get more ideas. I would share this to you next time since I'm still interrelating it with blogging.

6 Practical Ways To Survive a Major Philippine Flood

Warning: This is not like my usual posts about blogging.

A storm has caught the Philippines unaware of the vast streams of water it has brought. I was currently on my way home worrying about my family's sake and my own as well. I've crossed the flooded streets for 2 straight hours, witnessed some being taken away by the fast gushing streams of water which I can do nothing about since I too am in a hopeless condition. As soon as I've reached shelter in a form of a LRT 2 station, there are only two things on my mind which is travel safely back to our house and ensure my family is safe. To reach these goals I've conditioned my mind on the following:

  • think quickly - time is of the essence, come up with a good decision quickly
  • conserve energy - don't do unecessary things
  • be strong willed - keep on going and never turn back
  • be clever - be smart enough to choose the road to take. There is always a better road to partake.
  • stay focused - avoid things that may distract you
  • think positive - positive persons attracts positive things and events
These are the lessons I've learned which hopefully next time an event like this occur would help me to become more prepared. I'm sure some of you have your own stories to tell. Care to share it here?

I'll get back at you as soon as I can.

Video Archives - Mel And Joey

Just wanted to share a video of a TV show "Mel and Joey" here in the Philippines featuring blogs as a new trend in earning additional income streams. Actually this is kind of old since this video was aired in 2007.

The video featured Abe Olandres a.k.a. Yuga owner of YugaTech.com. I started to have an eagerness to learn about blogging when I saw Yuga and his blog in Business Magazine as an example of the new trend in e-marketing back in 2008. Didn't know anything about blogging back then but now I am thankful that I've started it and learn more about it as I blog.

Stuffs I Do In 4 Internet Hours Per Day

If we are serious with our blogs, we should spend some time updating it regularly. There are a lot of questions on the internet on how many hours should we spend on blogs in a regular basis. As stated in the title of this topic, I spend 4 hours a day. I try to stick to it to have some time with other daily chores.

The internet is so addicting sometimes with all the distractions that you may encounter while you surf the net. Distractions such as inviting videos, catchy gossips, cool pictures and others more. This takes up a lot of your time thus making you more unproductive and your time and effort is spent inefficiently. I know because I experience this too a lot more than you know actually. Hehe

To fix this habit, I created a to-do list but to make it more effective, I inserted the value of time well spent therefore I include the "4 internet hours per day basis". This is the list:

  • Check my email - I receive notifications in email if someone commented on my blog
  • Check my blog stats - page views and clicks through mybloglog stats and Google Analytics
  • Make a blog post - not on a daily basis especially if I wanted to expose more to the public a featured post
  • Read and leave a comment on other blogs - I have this favorite blogs of mine but I'll share those on my next blog post since I will be featuring them.
  • Check on my blog - I have this addiction of making my blog look clean and professional
  • Visit forums - this is quite boring but the information you will gather from here is the best..geeks are wonderful
  • Look for more ideas on blog promotion - there are a lot of ideas in the net but not all works out, a 10 mistake to 1 correct ratio.
  • Answer some questions on yahoo and other Q & A sites - I leave a link to my site usually after I answered the question properly.
  • Check twitter and facebook - promote blog (yeah right) actually more on ramblings and rants
  • Jot down the tasks I will do tomorrow - I add the tasks I wasn't able to accomplish at the top of the list for tomorrow.
That is all my fellow bloggers. I was able to spend double my productivity with this to-do list since I don't forget anymore the things that I will do and I avoid some distractions since I under time pressure. (4 hours per day remember?) Have a nice day!

RSS Feeds - A Must Have!

What is an RSS feed?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a notification system used to alert subscribers to changes or updates made to their favorite web sites, blogs, music sites, etc. It is easy to recognize that the site is RSS-enabled by the orange rectangular button that allows visitors to subscribe.

RSS feeds is essential in web marketing to stay connected with potential customers notifying them that your website is updating something encouraging them to visit it, thus giving you traffic also. Building a better relationship with your customers is a must in a growing business.

There are lots of services in the web that would handle your RSS feeds and FeedBurner which is associated with Google is one of them. They offer a good subscribers list handling service with a lot of tools to track its performance for free. Blogger has it's own rss feeds but it offers no tools to customize your feeds so I don't recommend it much. FeedBurner extracts your rss feeds and sends it to feed aggregators (Google reader) chosen by your subscribers.

The things I like about FeedBurner:
  1. Visual graphs - shows the performance of your feeds
  2. SmartFeed - makes your feeds work in any reader (desktop, web, mobile)
  3. Monetize with Google ads - associated with big "G" remember?
  4. Cool chicklet - standard icon for RSS feeds
How to use FeedBurner:
  1. Subscribe to FeedBurner
  2. Copy your feeds URL provided by FeedBurner
  3. Go to Blogger editor > Settings Tab > Site Feed section
  4. Paste your feeds URL to Post Feed Redirect URL textbox
  5. Save settings then your finished!
All your recent posts will be sent to your subscribers automatically. It urges you to write more consistently. That's for today my fellow bloggers! ^-^

LinkReferral Review

LinkReferral is a website that offers free traffic and reviews for your site. It uses the concept "viral traffic" generation. This is a good way to promote your blog and gain exposure to the blogosphere for free. I just wanted to put a little emphasis on this since I believe, "the best things in life is for free".

What is a Viral Traffic?
This is how it works. Person A refers person B then person B refers person C and D and the process goes on and on. Person A gets some points in referring someone which in this case is transformable to free traffic visits and site reviews and receives a portion of the traffic from person B.

LinkReferral allows you to visit 30 sites in a day in exchange of free visits to your site from other members. The ratio is 1:1 visit but that changes when your ranking gets higher.

Here are some tips to increase your site's exposure:
  1. Focus your efforts on subdirectories - subdirectories usually has lesser competition and thus it is easier to get your site be ranked at the top on that specific directory.
  2. Leave comments on blog you visit - comment something informative and write your URL as well to make him visit your site.
  3. Choose your favorite sites carefully - the owner of the site is informed when someone choose their site as a favorite therefore choose a site that may help you in the long run.
  4. Post something informative at the forum - forums contain informations for those who has some questions that aren't yet answered about the site and it's services and putting up a good name is one way to boost your site's exposure.
  5. Look for friends - be friend with bloggers that may help you such as link partners, traffic sharing, reviewing each other's blog, exchanging ideas and others more.
  6. Be wiser - be ranked at the top is a good idea but that isn't the only way to get your site exposed to the public.

Don't Give Up On Your Blog

Lately I have been busy with a lot of school work but honestly, I have been quite slacking off writing posts in this blog since I don't really know what to do next. There are ideas in my mind but something keeps me from not doing it. It's the attitude where we want all the lights to be green before they take a road trip.

Over the last few days I utter the following excuses when I give out my schedule of work.
  1. This seems like too much work.
  2. I am not sure whether this will work, is it worth the risk?
  3. I want to ensure my page will convert before sending it traffic.
Is it just me or too many people are afraid of work. I've read a post from Darren entitled "How Passion Can Transform Your Blog" and this is what I've learned. Success comes from hard work and there may be some short cuts but it seems like people just don't even want to invest some hours trying things.

I am in the venture of discovering fresh ideas on tips in blogging and traffic generation methods. It takes me 9 bad ideas just to come up with 1 good idea. It is hard work but it pays off at the end.

Be prepared to work if you want to get paid. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Donald Trump and many other super rich people go to work early every morning.

Respect the process, invest the time, reap the rewards.

9 Ways To Make Money Online!

The idea of making money online is attractive to many, primarily because of the benefits it offers. Two main incentives are motivational factors here: Thelucrative potential of the internet as well as the personal freedom that comes with working without a fixed schedule or geographic location.

One doesn’t need to suffer through monotonous day jobs which offer poor returns for the time invested. Indeed, why make $7 an hour selling coffee behind a counter when you can easily earn the same amount by spending 10 minutes to write an article on your blog? Even if you’re not looking to work full-time at home, the internet offers a viable source of money which can help to supplement your regular income.

Cataloging the Different Ways to Make Money Online

A basic search on Google will reveal many ways to make money online and most of the websites listed in the search results pages all seem to focus on the same methods of making money.

I thought it’ll be a good idea to categorize and compile a list of the online money making methods available so that future visitors to Dosh Dosh will have a reference point which provides them with all information they need.

This list uses a rather broad categorization, which I believe covers most of the ways to make money online. More methods and examples of how to make money online will be added to this list, which can be considered a work in progress.

1. Set up a Blog or Website for Profit

One of the best ways to make money online is to create a website or blog which allows you to earn money from the display of advertisements or the sale of products and services.

There are many different types of money making blogs which will help you to make money and you’ll need to pick a model that suits your interests, schedule and skill levels. A simple no frills blog will allow you to easily pull in at least several hundred dollars in a month through the use of paid blogging websites alone.

For more information, check out Dosh Dosh’s archive of articles on how to make money blogging. Apart from blogs, other websites can easily help you to generate passive income as well. These can range from e-commerce websites, social communities and information portals to basic landing pages for affiliate programs.

2. Learn about Affiliate Marketing and The Art of Selling

This involves promoting a specific product or service and earning commissionswhenever the referred user makes a purchase based on your recommendations.

Affiliate marketing is a big and profitable industry that covers a wide spectrum of topics and fields. If you’ve got an interest in fitness, you can make money promoting fitness videos or courses. In terms of fashion wear, you can earn commissions by recommending friends to clothing or t-shirt companies with affiliate programs.

The amount of money you make depends on what you are selling. Done correctly, affiliate marketing is one of the most powerful ways to make money from the web.Amazon, Commission Junction and ClickBank are three of the biggest affiliate marketplaces you can use if you’re branching out into affiliate marketing.

3. Start an Online Business

Starting your own online business or company allows you to make money off the provision of specific services or products you may have. Some examples of popular online trades include web design, copywriting and internet marketing.

It isn’t difficult to start a business. It’s all about hiring the right people or having enough knowledge and connections within a specific industry. You should do some in depth research before you decide to settle on a specific niche for your business.Entrepreneur.com has a good collection of tips on how to start an online business.

4. Try Out Domaining and the Online Real Estate Trade

This is the business of buying, selling, developing and making money from domain names. A domainer purchases many domain names and sells them to interested buyers. This is similar to real estate investing offline and domainers also make money by developing websites and reselling it to a buyer.

This practice is known as site flipping and can make you a tidy sum of money if you know how to build an attractive and profitable website. For a rough estimate of how much money you can earn from site flipping, check out the SitePoint Marketplace to browse through the collection of websites for sale.

5. Participate in Get-Paid-to Websites

There are hundreds of websites out there which you pay you to read emails, do surveys, sign up for trial subscriptions and surf the web. Websites that pay you to complete offers are worth examining because they usually include affiliate programs with recurring commissions to be earned.

The benefit of get paid to websites is that you don’t need to have your own website or any personal skills at all. The downside is that there are a lot of get-paid-to scams around and finding websites that are legitimate can be fairly difficult. Scam.com is a forum you should visit to learn if the get-paid-to website you’re interested in actually pays its members.

There are also several Web 2.0 or social media websites out there that will pay you to participate in their community. This collection of social media websites usually operate via a revenue-sharing system, which allows you to earn a share of the overall ad revenue. How much you earn depends on how much your submitted article, video or image is viewed.

6. Find a Virtual Job or Make Use of Your Expertise

Not only limited to data entry jobs, online jobs in the new economy include virtual assistants, gold farmers, online life coaching and support for open source software. Mini consultation networks like Bitwine and Ether allow you to easily set up shop and offer advice on specific topics through the web.

Most of these virtual jobs involve direct communication through electronic mediums like internet telephony, instant messengers and emails. Which means that all you need to get started is a home computer with an steady internet connection.

If you are an expert in a specific topic, you can offer consultation via websites like Jyveor Just Answers. Other skill or knowledge based vocations also include participation in online competitions in areas such as photography, writing, designing and even gaming.

7. Freelance and Work on a Contract Basis Online

If you have a skill such as web design, programming or copywriting you can offer your services online in exchange for money. Traditional freelancing jobs include transcription, proofreading, translation services on top of the ones already mentioned above.

Online marketplaces that you can use to offer your services include Guru.com andElance. One of the best ways to find freelance jobs is to visit webmaster forumsbecause webmasters usually require a variety of web-based services, which range from programming and content writing to design work.

If you’re focusing on writing if don’t own your own blog, you can still make some money by registering for websites which will pay for your content. Another alternative is get paid to write for other blogs either as a staff or guest writer.

8. Create Your Own Product and Sell it

Products you can create include website templates, sound clips or even your own ebook. Websites like Lulu allow you to easily develop and sell your own collection of electronic products like calenders, brochures, artwork, images and ebooks.

If your specialty is images and photography, citizen journalism websites like Spymediaand Citizen Image will pay for your images. You can also try using Shutterstock, the most established and lucrative micro-stock photography website. Illustrators and videographers are also welcome at Shutterstock.

This also ties in with the concept of creating your online business, which will allow you to sell the products you create or own without resorting to a third party website which will usually take a commission of the sale.

9. Get Involved in the Online Retail Trade

Ebay and Craigslist are the two of the most popular websites you can use if you are planning to get into the online retail trade. You can purchase products from either website to sell to the other.

Make Money Online Blogging IV

Last article Make Money Online Blogging III talks about link building strategy through link exchange. Today's topic will discuss the rest of the steps to create more backlinks linking to your site to increase page rank.

As we all know, to make money online from your blog, we make use of this formula:
Make Money Online = Blog + Dedication + Monetization + Page Rank

This article will tackle more on how to get more backlinks and thus increasing page rank of your website.

1. Article Writing
Whenever you write an article for your blog, it's best to submit it too on free article directories. Submitting your article with your link below as a signature will get more exposure to the public. Readers that are interested in your topic may visit your site or repost it to their blogs including your link thus earning you backlinks from his/her site.

Below is a list of some free article directories that I prefer.
  1. EzineArticles
  2. GoArticles
  3. ArticleHub
  4. ArticlesBase
Note: Duplicate contents may be punished by Google so it's best to modify the article a little before submitting it.

2. Guest Posting
Voluntarily posting for someone else's blog can earn you backlinks and a friend blogger as well. Some blogs invite other bloggers to guest post on their blog and if there's no option for you to guest post, you can still contact the owner and ask for permission. Be sure to include your link in the article and don't repost it in your blog. Some bloggers are picky so you may want to research a little to provide quality content.

3. Forums
Forums are online discussion sites which covers different topics. To search for a forum about your topic, search on the search engines the topic name + forum. Thus, if I'm looking for forums about cats, I will search for the keyword "cats forum" in the search engines. Be active in discussions and share your expertise on a topic leaving your blog's link as a signature to earn you backlinks. Active forums are updated frequently therefore search engine crawls to this site at that pace too. Remember to use your keyword in which you want to be ranked on your signatures.

4. Site Directories
Submitting your blog/site to directories will earn you more exposure to other bloggers and backlinks. This service is a good opportunity for bloggers to look for blogs related to their niche. Site submitted to this directories sometimes are reviewed by real people to prevent splogs ( spam blogs) infiltrating their listings.

This will be all for today. Next article will be about ways to make money online blogging through advertisements and affiliates.

Make Money Online Blogging III

Last article tackled about on-page factors. This article would be more about the off-page optimization. It is a known fact that the off-page factors contribute more on in terms of increasing page ranking. These factors are time-consuming and mostly needs effort but it's all worth doing it. ^-^

Traffic is very important for a blog. It pertains to the number of persons reading your blog. A blog, informative as it may seem, needs readers to promote it. Without it, your blog is dead. Why do I mention this? One of the off-page optimization factors that I'm about to mention is Back Links.

What are backlinks?
Backlinks, are links that connects back to your blog. ^-^ Simple isn't it.
So, what about it? Backlinks are considered by search engines as a vote for a blog. When a site has a link back to someone else's blog, therefore it is voting that the blog it is linking back to contains informative posts as well.
What is a link anyway? Well, this is a link. Sample Link
The link serves as a sample only and I didn't link it to an existing site. This means that I'm casting a vote for that link and search engines considers it a plus point to be added to that site's page ranking.

How do I earn backlinks?
Earning backlinks is a time consuming job. There is no shortcut to this because you're asking someone else to make a link back to your site. Here are some of the things you might do to earn it.

1. Link Exchange is making a link to someone to reciprocate his link to you. Bloggers prefer this more since it helps both sites in increasing their page rank.
How do i earn it? You can get it by informing a site's webmaster/blogger to exchange links with you . Look for a site worthy of exchanging links with then contact the owner and state your purpose which is to exchange links with him/her. Not everyone may approved to this since some are picky in terms of exchanging links with someone else. Some prefer to exchange links with sites with a page rank higher than 3. A page is ranked from 0 to 10 in which 10 is the highest. There are only few sites that has a page rank of 7 and above and earning them really needs some serious hard work. You might consider focusing on lower page ranking sites since these are the more common ones and easier to get. Here are the steps you would do.
  • Search for a site related to your niche - relevance is important.
  • Contact the owner
  • Politely invite him to exchange link with you (black mailing him might work too..hehe)
Things that should be INCLUDED in your mail to the blogger is enumerated below.
  • Your objective ( link exchange)
  • Your link description (NathanBloggersPortal)
  • Your site's URL (http://nathanbloggersportal.blogspot.com)
  • The page on your site in which you posted the blogger's link ( tip: post his link first to your site, if he doesn't want to exchange links with you, then remove it.)
  • Ask him to send the proper details so you can edit his link description.
Your link should look like this in his site NathanBloggersPortal Be sure he is linking back to you by checking on the page in which he posted your link. Continuation on next article.

Introduction to some SEO stuffs and blog promotion.

SEO is a short term for (search engine optimization). These are little tweaks that optimizes your page for better indexing and blog promotion is introducing your blog to the internet. Let's look at it in a more simpler way. Imagine your blog as a public utility vehicle. The vehicle who gets to the passenger faster makes more money! SEO is the steering wheel while blog promotion are the upgrades you make to a car to improve performance such as better engine and new tires while the road and the passengers are the ranking in search engine results. Let's focus first on some SEO strategies.

Search Engine Optimization:

Keywords Optimization has been briefly discussed on the previous article of this series. Keywords are words used by search engines to categorize your site to which niche it belongs to. Common mistakes of bloggers is that they use a lot of irrelevant keywords thus confusing the search engine in categorizing you. We want to optimize our keywords so we would be placed along side the blogs on the same niche as ours. Why is it so? Simple, a guy looking for a date would not search for a prospect on blogs that contains information about guys...unless

1. Keywords are best included in the title of your site. If you can, insert it also in the URL of your site. Titles of your site and post uses h1 and h2 tags in which search engines looks for keywords. Most common layouts and templates of blogger sets the titles as h1 and h2 therefore you don't need to worry yourself too much on this.

2. Keyword volume contributes a large factor in SEO since the more your keywords are repeated on a site, the more the search engines thinks your content is about the keyword you are pertaining to. Keyword spamming is the term called for inserting too much repeated keyword on a content. Insert 5 to 6 related keywords per 100 words to make it look like a normal content. As you can see, from the beginning of this post upto this point, I've mentioned the keywords "keyword" and "SEO" more than once.

3. Keywords for alt tags means you insert your keyword as an alternate tag for an image. Alt tags are words that are shown whenever an image has been loaded unsuccessfully. More on alt tags on this link Alt Tags

4. Keywords on image names simply states that in naming images, insert also your keywords.

5. Unique relevant contents pertains to the post you publish. Though there are great number of splogs "spam blogs" which contains duplicate content from another site, unique contents improve your SEO more. But make sure your topic is related to your niche. Some rambling is good once in a while but stick to your niche when posting stuffs. 3 niche posts to 1 rambling post is a good ratio. Rambling contents are stuffs not related to your topic, either these posts are personal or just not related. Frequent updates makes search engines index your page a lot more therefore post in a regular basis.

All the stuffs mention above are called on-page optimization. To optimize the website, you edit the stuffs on the page itself. However there are some more factors that affects the site drastically. More on this factors will be explained in the next article of the Make Money Online Series.

Make Money Online Blogging I

This is the first article about Make Money Online with Blogging.

I want to start this article about what blogging is all about and how to make money with it along the way. Some close friends of mine emailed me asking for some help in blogging. Due to them, I thought of making this series. Thanks Mish and Paul for inspiring me.

What is a blog?
Blog is an abbreviation of the two terms "web" and "log". Weblog as it may seem if combined but they truncated the "we" and thus, "blog" is created.

What is blogging?
Blogging is some sort of a personal page in which a blogger can share his personal thoughts about a topic with fellow bloggers in the blogosphere.

How do we make money online with blogs?
There are several ways to make money online with blogs. As for now, let's settle for the most common which is advertisements and affiliates. For starters, the commonly used advertising company is Google Adsense. I'll talk about affiliates on the next articles to come.

What is Google Adsense and how do earn money from it?
Google Adsense is the Google's solution to expand advertising monetization program for websites which is released on June 18,2003. It inserts filtered ads related to your niche in your website depending on the location that you selected. Bloggers earn money from it whenever someone clicked the ads.

More on Google Adsense
There are two methods of earning money in blogging with Google Adsense. These are the pay-per-click and pay-per-thousand. Pay-per-click pays you for every click through an ad has receives while pay-per-thousand pays you when you display the ads on your blog for 1000 times. Displaying the ads on a site is called "ads impression". Therefore pay-per-thousand pertains to pay-per-thousand(impressions).

CREATING A BLOG

Step 1 - Choose Your Niche
We are making blogs for money therefore, find a topic that you like and seemingly have potentials to make money with. Niche pertains to the topic that you want your site to focus on since it's the topic in which you will make money online.

Step 2 - Choose Your Keywords
Keywords is the most essential tool in making your site in the top of the list. Keywords are the terms searched by an individual to look for something that they like. Look at the keyword typed in the example below.
A blog's main goal is to get to the top of the list of Google Search Engine to get more targeted traffic and thus, more income probability. The more visitors that enter your site, the higher the probability your ads will be clicked. In a broader concept, more possible consumers in which you can sell things with are visiting your site. These people visiting your site because they found you on the first 3 pages of Google are considered targeted consumers since they are looking for something that they want in Google Search Engine and found out that you are on the top of the list therefore, they are expecting that you can offer something to them in regards to the thing they are looking for.

Words to ponder: Google Search Engine
The picture mentioned above is where we search and the program handling the "searching job" is the Search Engine.

Step 3 - Count Your Competitors
This one is no-brainer. You don't want to compete to more than 1 million persons in your niche. Search for a desired keyword in the Google search bar such as "Make Money Online" and the result page will show how many competitors you would be taking on if you continue on that niche.

Step 4 - Count The Advertisers
If we are to make a niche blog, we would want to make sure that there are advertisements for that particular niche. We prefer related ads since it's more probable to be clicked by a person who stumbled on your site looking for something related in your niche.

Google Adsense Formula
Income from ads = ads clicked X no. of people

Step 5 - Make A Blog
All this preparation would be in vain if you don't make a blog. Just do it! Worry about the page factors later on. We learn best from our experiences. There are several web host companies to host your site but if you prefer the best next thing! which is being free, here are some of the platforms that you may choose from. Blogger, Wordpress, Typepad.

Closing Tip for Make Money Online with Blogging Part I article.
If your keyword is so populated by competitors, change to profitable niche or be more specific with your niche. If you are looking for tips for "Hamster Care", you may find yourself competing with more than a million people since the topic is so broad. Choose your niche specifically. You may want to change the keywords to "Hamster Care in Summer Seasons" then sell something summer stuffs specifically for hamsters.
